Here we are a few days into November and I seriously want to be knitting and painting all the things. There’s the Hitchhiker by Martina Behm. A colorwork hat I’m really excited about. The tension isn’t great and I’m not sure why except that I haven’t done much colorwork lately. I’ve also been painting watercolor wreaths nearly every day and loving it. I’ve shared here before. There’s something so soothing about a wreath shape and combined with the flow of the water and paints it’s just great to do. For some paintings I’ve been filling the middle with things that I’m grateful for, things that are bringing me joy and things I feel such great appreciation for. It has helped me to do this because it forces me to focus on what is right and turn away from what could be different etc. I think Oprah introduced me to gratitude lists years ago and I believe I did write some but then stopped. I would also mentally give thanks for things before going to sleep at night. I like that too but there’s something about writing it while thinking about it that has such power.
I painted this little guy for a friend.
I finished this crochet bag for my mom. I was pretty happy with it even though I used the wrong hook and it came out a big too big and loose. I will try another smaller one soon.
We had a beautiful double rainbow spreading across the neighborhood.
I began a new shawl. I ran into a few trouble spots only because I was distracted so I pulled back a few rows and now I’m doing well.
And apparently I’m in a blue phase. 🙂
What’s going on with you lately?
I have begun painting stripes. Regularly. Well, a week or so now. Playing with color. Ah, bliss. Where and when I will stop I am not sure.
Knitting on dpn’s. This is so big to me. My friend Maegan created patterns for jar cozies. I am gifting one tomorrow. The fact that I could do it was/is amazing to me. It wasn’t that long ago that I thought I would never be able to knit and now I am knitting things using multiple needles. Amazing. I signed up for Knit Lab in the Round on Craftsy and it is very helpful. Soon I will try a hat and fingerless mitts.
I also signed up for Write Into the Heart of Your Story which starts in two days. A two week course and I am so excited and nervous. It is something I have wanted to explore for some time so this seemed like a great way to dip my toes in.
And with the holidays quickly approaching I have begun holiday crafting and shopping. My intention is to have a low stress season. What is happening where you are? Tell me I would love to know. xo
school year ending
uncertainty (always isn’t it?)
deep breaths (they really help)
being grateful (always)
meditating (love, don’t do enough of)
The school was closed again due to icy road conditions this a.m. This painting was done between “Mom, I’m hungry.” and video games. I have grown accustomed to painting fast and with interruptions. I can’t imagine a whole day where you can just focus on one thing. Working my way means getting right to it. No hemming and hawing. There is laundry to fold and lunches to make.
P.S. I totally posted this yesterday on Day 11 but for some weird reason it didn’t show up. Even comments that I approved didn’t actually get approved.
I wasn’t sure what I was going to paint today. I thought a plant and then I pulled the image down from my inspiration wall. It has an acrylic ground with gouache. The colors were really hard to capture. The pink is super bright. I am feeling like the more I paint the more I want to paint. So fun.
